Coco beach fishing charters
Playas del Coco is located just 20 minutes from Guanacaste International airport, it is Costa Rica’s oldest fishing village. Playas del coco itself is sunbathing, swimming, people watching, and a little exploring: at low tide, you can walk over the rocks at the left end of the beach to reach the secluded, white sand beach of Playa Blanca.
This beach town is also the services center of this area. The port captain and immigration have their offices in Playas del Coco. There are 3 banks, 6 supermarkets, and medical facilities, including 4 pharmacies. Coco’s main street is lined with open-air and indoor shops offering a broad range of souvenirs for tourists to take home.
Playas del Coco Fishing Inshore
Inshore fishing is the most popular kind of fishing in Playas del Coco because you don’t need to boat out too far and it’s affordable. Just boat out of Coco for about 20 minutes and you’re in the Gulf of Papagayo where you can catch roosterfish, snapper, jacks, amberjack, mackerel, and fish like those.
We usually go inshore fishing around the bay and we always catch something. It’s a lot of fun! One of the best things about in-shore fishing tours in Playas del Coco is that it doesn’t take nearly as much time as a deep-sea fishing trip which requires boating out for at least a couple of hours so you can go fishing and snorkeling all in one tour.

Playas del Coco Fishing Offshore
Offshore fishing from Playas del Coco is definitely for more experienced fishermen, it’s not for those who aren’t keen on boats or being out on the water for long periods. You do need to boat at least a couple of hours out of Playas del Coco to get to the deep sea fishing grounds.
There, you can catch big game fish such as Blue marlin, Sailfish, Striped Marlin, huge wahoo, yellowfin tuna, bull mahi-mahi, and more.

- All fishing charter departs at 7:30 AM, but we can do it earlier under the client’s request!
- Full day: 8 hours (7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.)
- 3/4 day: 6 hours (7:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.)
- Half day: 4 hours (7:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.)
- Rates per boat and not per person.
- Check the # of people per boat on the boat info.
